Hi Scott, I agree with you 100% even before the police arrested you I knew you were going to be blamed for this horrfic crime. The police and the media were always reporting false statements like saying you had turned Conner's room in a storage room with was a lie. Scott the bottom line is you were convicted because the police chose not to persue the tips where people saw Laci walking Mckenize after you left that morning and if that wasn'nt enough they all said they saw her wearing the exact color clothes as you had told the police. I just wanted to say happy 6th birthday Conner I wished you could have lived to celebrate it. I know you and your mommy are up in heaven watching over your daddy. I am really disturbed that police would spend money to watch TV shows! WHY?? How was that going to help them find out what happened to Laci Peterson?
Yet they didn't investigate a tip that a pregnant woman was being held in Tracy because it was "dangerous"? And yes Scott I also think they know on some level it is absurd to think you dumped Laci's body from your small boat at that Marina. Untested boat,middle of the day, people all around? I don't think so. I'm sorry for your loss. Get a good attorney for your next trial and you will be okay.

Your conviction was a "perfect storm" of police/DA stupidity, deceit, and lies. My personal opinion is that they knew that in most cases like this the husband is the killer. If they would have done a real investigation, they probably feared you would become emboldemed with your "story of innocense". They used the power of the media hoping to force you to crack. When they announced they were searching the marina, they probably thought you would try to head to Switzerland. Instead you were right there because you knew you didn't do it. There were actually 2 trials. One was inside the courtroom where a pitiful collection of humans listened to circumstantial nonsense and were shown terrible pictures of Laci and Conner (they have no shame). The other trial, one where no one heard evidence or engaged in deliberation, was put on by the media. In Modesto, the same prosecutors, Distaso and Fladager, were handed the case of Gilbert Cano who murdered his pregnant girlfriend Martha Moreno. He stabbed her in the womb to kill his child and then strangled her with a phone cord in their home. They had the body with clear signs of the cause, time and place of death, the weapon, abundant forensics and, when caught, Cano made a full confession.
The same prosecutors who convicted Scott Peterson (with no evidence at all) said that there wasn’t enough to be sure of a conviction in this case and pled it down to 2nd degree murder. Cano got 17 years max and can get parole! “In any trial, there’s always a risk, and there were elements in this case that we needed to take into consideration,†Fladager said. One hardly needs to be even slightly cynical to believe that the total lack of attention to two Hispanics by even the local media was the 'element' in this decision. Other cases in Modesto also were ignored or poorly treated while these prosecutors grandstanded for the press in the Peterson case - a case where the evidence of Peterson’s innocence was overwhelming. There was no spending of $11 million here to get a conviction - they whole thing was handled for chump change and the public was the chump. Cano’s sentence breaks down to 15 years to life for second-degree murder and two years for the use of a knife and ligature, used in strangulation. Apparently the death of the fetus was not a factor here.
Every day we are bombarded with TV commercials and radio ads with one purpose in mind and that is to sell a product or an idea to the public. If the public hears or sees what you are selling often enough, they are duped into believing whatever the ad tells them and they take the bait. The audience ceases to think intelligently or rationally. And so it has become for the TV industry and especially cable news channels that have turned into amatuer crime shows. The District Attorney and Modesto Police Dept. obviously knew how little effort it would take to convert the general viewing public into buying whatever they were selling. Your guilt was on the menu nightly and the truth and lack of all evidence did not matter. Sell the product and damned the cost.
You were and still are a hot commodity, you made millions for the TV shows and will make millions more for the hosts and all of their blundering, fame seeking dribble and drooling guests. Stanislaus County didn't have to pay a dime for this load of help, they knew the greed of their sponsored TV help would provide them with everything they wanted to convict you with the public. It was important for them to buy these tapes for the huge sum of $25,000 simply because they had no interest in doing the real investigative work that could have and should have brought Laci home to you. You are fighting for justice and people everywhere are pound of you, your family and your supporters (of whom there are many!) who are helping every step of the way. If I were a member of the MPD, I would be asking myself nightly, what is, even now at this late date, the right thing to do? What can I reveal that would help save an innocent man from this travesty and death sentence. I would long to get a good night of sleep without all the guilt weighing me down each night. I hope somewhere, someplace, this person will step forward and cross that thin blue line and be a man of honor and integrity and realize that those qualities are far better to have than to dream of being on a selected team that dishonors the very motto they are sworn to uphold and that is to protect and to serve. In this case, the MPD failed miserably. The law is little more than the behavior of individuals. The above saying is on Dr. Ebbe Ebbessen's website. He was included in this DA expense sheet as well.......to the tune of $141,791 along with some others like jury consultant Howard Varinksy. For strategy development. For a lot less money, the saying above would have explained more about the MPD and DA's behavior than anything else they did in trying to prepare for a trial this bogus. The money was there for trial preparation but they couldn't spend the money, the time or the efforts to check out eye witness reports of Laci being seen? By credible people? And then they give a plea deal to the burglars who burglarized the home right across the street...on the same day Laci goes missing?? I hope people reading your blog will delve deeply into the facts of this case. It's all there for people to read, every single transcript and all for free. Hang in there Scott. The public is becoming more educated and informed about your case and that's all it has taken for them to see the truth. They may have taken your life of freedom but all of us supporters and new found friends, your family and your lawyers will be giving it back to you. This wrong will be made right. This is way off topic, but why did the bracelets stop being sold? I wish I knew where I could purchase one as I have believed in your innocence from day one. This is the first I've heard about braclets. My wife remembers something about it. I think this is a great idea. Something like the old Viet Nam POW braclets you didn't take off until the soldier was found. I'd like to look into how we could get some made, put them on Scott's web site and get a donation ($5-$10) for the family. They have to be running on empty financially. If we could get enough of them out initially people would see them and ask about what they meant. Get Scott some positive publicity if they see these on normal people who believe in his innocence and who could express to others why one felt that way. Scott has been so demonized by the media and it's about time to turn that around. Right now he has no public advocate. This might be be a way to start a small fire that could become a big blaze over time. I know there are people out there who may not know much about the case other than they know "he murdered his wife and baby". Whoever wears a braclet like this is going to invite interest, likely ridicule, but if you know your stuff there isn't much we couldn't counter with facts. We might get a convert out of every 10 who asks us. That's way better than the none we seem to be getting now. Are you brave anough to wear such a braclet? Feedback please. I would definitely buy a bracelet if it was offered. Everyone here knows how I feel about the media and how they railroaded Scott, but I won't get into that again, as my last comment on this website was not approved to be posted here. So I will lay low, and just say that I support the idea for the bracelet.
I would wear a bracelet.... and I would talk to everyone who asked about it.
I have a 100% conversion rate... or so I think. I'm passionate about this case and when people ask me, I tell them about real evidence and real cover-ups and real issues with the states theories.... and it works to convince them that something is NOT right with this case. I don't know who killed Laci and Conner, but I know that Scott did NOT. Make the bracelets and send all his supporters one... I will buy more and hand them out to the people I convert, I'll hand out at least one a week after I catch up by giving one to each person I've already converted. One by One..... we can convince the world.
Sorry for my delay!! Yes Yes Yes i would absoulutly wear a bracelet to support Scott! The bracelets that I am talking about were on the justice4scott website that was taken down..they were very similar to the livestrong bracelets. If they will be sold again, please post it as soon as possible so we can get the word out and bring to light his innocence. It wold be nice to see him walking down the street as a free man. Well said, it was painfully obvious from all they way over here that they had it in for you from day one, unfortunately, after discovering you were having an affair they 'got their evidence'. I still believe you are on death row for having an affair, the media helped hang you, yes ABSOLUTELY!!! But the money spent on ridiculous things such as tapes from tv shows should certainly have been spent elsewhere. I agree with Pat, modern day Salem witch hunt.
I humbly disagree with you. There has been enough cases in the US that exemplify pure laziness and posturing on the part of law enforcement. Scott's affair wasn't the evidence they needed to convince MPD of his guilt, it was the evidence they needed to vilify and eventually convict him. Whether he had an affair or not, they decided Scott was guilty the minute he reported Laci missing.
Scott was subjected to a lynching, not a trial. The means of which people villified him to such an extent that even if they are wrong about the murder, they can say "what about the affair" to justify their hateful acts. If Scott had internet porn on his computer, then that would be the catalyst of his conviction even though it has nothing to do with Laci's disappearance. Unfortunately those Amber tapes are hugely prejudicial outside of their context and had no business being in the trial, but they were. If you were to look up Shareef Cousin, one of the youngest(16yrs old) ever on death row in violation of international law, you can see how our society excercises a vengeful presumption of guilt towards anyone who is accused of a crime to such a degree that even with video tape showing that he was at a basketball game at the time of the murder in his case and he still was wrongfully convicted. No, the affair isn't what made him a suspect it was just a tool in the battle. Its the automatic, godlike faith in the press and law enforcement compounded with a self-righteous hypocritical view of Americans own moral superiority is the reason Scott and Shareef were convicted.
Prosecutors are interested in convictions, not justice. This is true of police investigators as well. Closing a case is more important than discovering the truth.
We can hope and pray that those responsible for Laci's abduction and murder will be found out before Scott is wrongfully executed.

This reminds me of just how angry I was when I was trying to follow your case and had to listen to the prejudicial remarks of the Court TV commentators who most likely were receiving daily updates from MPD and the prosecutors. The talking heads on the other channels were almost as bad, totally ignorant about the facts in the case, and using their power to influence public opinion. We know the truth--that you are completely innocent--and more and more people will begin to see this. You have a lot of dedicated supporters who will be working on this every day until you are free. It was unbelievable how much time they focused on you, instead of following tips...for that is a true crime!!!!! Then, the exaggerated statements leaked to the press by the MPD. The media had you convicted before your trial. They sold you to us as guilty. Like someone else said...I am glad to see that your gloves are off and you are ready to fight this. It's absolutely crazy that they would spend that much on transcripts from talking heads who are notorious for reporting innuendo, assumptions, and half truths in an effort to out-scoop each other. What value could these tapes have? A shameful waste.
In order to deliver 35,000 pages of discovery for the defense to go through just before trial. Really serves no purpose but to befuddle the defense with too much discovery. Its like having to study 14 bibles, thats insane.

When you get down to it, it is really the taxpayers that bought these transcripts. All that money, thrown away, just to make their play in this sick game that is supposed to bring financial justice? I agree that the move was made to befuddle the defense.

I just thought I would share this link I found on Youtube. It's a music video about convicted killers, and then towards the end it ask about Scott Peterson's innocence. It also promotes the www.scottpersonappeal.com website.
I was listening to a talk on global warming by Professor Fred Singer who has been studying the accuracy of the models by comparing their finger prints (warming patterns) with what is actually occurring in nature. They don't match.... and at the end of the lecture, he had this quote which reminded me of your case Scott.
"Their models are very nice, but they're not reality and they're not evidence." The prosecution's theory and/or the media's theory or models are very nice fiction - but they're not reality and they're not evidence, so why did the jury treat them as such. One example: The anchors, very nice theory.... but show we one piece of creditable evidence that they exist or have ever existed. Show me just one anchor that was discovered after the million dollar search of the shallow bay. During the prosecutor's closing arguments... he'd often times bring up his theories and then during subsequent arguments turn those theories into facts for arguing his next theory... he did this over and over until the minds of the jury were so confused as to what was fact and what was fiction. Likewise, the media.... would report on stories that the police knew were false and no one would correct them... and those false stories turned into facts that were used to support other stories. Nancy Grace was the worst offender. Shame on them all! I think about this case everyday Scott, my heart goes out to you. Cory
The Media is only out for one thing, in my mind and that is Money, and that is what Scott made them. Scott was judged wrongly in the media before the case even went to trial. The Modesto police Dept. had their scape goat, and they were not going to admit that they had just made the biggest mistake in history, by pursuing and innocent man.
What bothers me is they did not even attempt to explore other possibilities...they never even once stopped a thought "Hey...maybe we have the wrong guy here!",they just went ahead and personally crusified Scott in the public because he was the easiest target. And getting back to the media... they are just as guilty as the MPD. I followed the case from day one, and the lies and mind blowing stories they would come out blew me away. The media played the role of turning the public against Scott, and once the MPD had that...they would'nt admit that they were wrong. No, they just went ahead and completly destroyed man, who had just lost his family. I am sooooooooo glad to hear Scott Standing up and fighting, you have my support 100% of the way! No one ever gave you a chance. I was in High School when this case first came out and I didn't believe you did this from the first media story to your conviction. I still don't believe you did this. Why would you? You truly didn't have a motive.
No one in this country will ever receive a fair trial due to the media. You were labeled a killer the first week she went missing - why? Because your facial expressions didn't show anything. If my wife and unborn child were murdered I'd have a hard time showing anything besides coldness. You didn't receive a fair trial and I think it's horrible. You continue to fight for yourself and maybe one day you'll really know who did this. The worst part about this is the fact that you're in prison and cannot do anything to find out who took your family from you. The judicial system in this country is just a business and it needs to be changed. Hi Scott, I believed in you're innocence since day one, however from time to time like when I first heard about Amber Fey and in particular the phone call from France when you indeed were not there, I did wonder. What I have concluded throughout this whole sad event was that the DA had NO EVIDENCE at all so I was sure you would be found innocent by any reasonable jury, I was shocked to see otherwise. Yes the media is in part to blame but mainly the corrupt officials down the line insured a conviction, they act as if they were there to watch your actions on the day Laci was murdered and they certainly were not. To listen to police, DA, etc. you would think they had hard evidence which of course is NOT the case because after reading this whole website I am convinced more than ever that you are INNOCENT & will be exonerated one day, hopefully sooner rather than later. My thoughts & prayers go out to your family & of course you Scott. God Bless & watch over all of you....Laci & Conner too, they are your Angels now.
I have followed your case since Day One and not one piece of evidece covinced me of your guilt. I read Sharon Rocha's book and it left me with more questions than answers. I yo-yoed back and forth when I heard about your affair and the comments you made about your wife being "gone" (whatever words you used). And then your long-lost sister wrote a book saying you were guilty (which I have not read). But I still have not seen ONE piece of definitive evidence to prove your guilt. Your case was the media's dream! And several people made money and careers out of it! Sad to say, but Laci and Conner's death got lost in the shuffle somewhere. Its time to bring it back to them and justice! An affair and a few stupid remarks you have made does not make you a killer. Your appeal should be based on the outrageous and discriminating media coverage of you and your family! And yes, a person can be covicted by media coverage, just ask the Sam Shepard family! You and your family should use your "notoriety" to get the word out there. Its time to get back and fight for justice for Laci and Conner and your family! There are too many people walking out of jail due to wrongful convictions! You might have lost your freedom, but you have not lost your voice or life yet! You have supporters so don't give up! And this time get a lawyer that believes in your innocence, not one that grandstands at every turn! I think he was one of your greatest mistakes in the first trial!
